Mac Tour

Highland Lochs, Glens and Whisky
Travel over Forth Road Bridge past Perth to Dunkeld, pause for a forest walk in Birnam Wood and see some of the tallest trees in Scotland. On to Pitlochry for lunch and a visit to a Single Malt Whisky Distillery. Continue along Loch Tay beneath the dramatic Ben Lawers to Killin, an area abundant with ancient stone circles. Journey back to Edinburgh through Rob Roy country passsing Stirling Castle.

Loch Ness, Glencoe and the Highlands
Your tour passes through magnificent Glencoe where the Campbell clan massacred the MacDonald clan in 1692. Then on through Fort William and the ‘Great Glen’ heading for Fort Augustus on the banks of Loch Ness. Stop for lunch and enjoy the wonderful scenery around Loch Ness, take a stroll or a local boat trip on the Loch. Return to Edinburgh via ‘Monarch of the Glen country and a stop in Pitlochry.

Loch Lomond National Park and Stirling Castle
Travel to Stirling Castle and visit the ancient stronghold where Mary Queen of Scots was crowned. Onward through the Trossachs National Park and pause for lunch at Aberfoyle. Then travel the drover’s road to Inversnaid on the bonny banks of Loch Lomond. Spend time by the loch or stroll a little along the West Highland Way in the footsteps of Rob Roy. Return to Edinburgh late afternoon.

The Da Vinci Code and Scottish Borders
Your tour takes you south to the world famous Scott’s View and then to the original Wallace Monument. Then on to explore Melrose Border Abbey the burial place of Robert the Bruce’s heart. Following lunch in Melrose make your way to the stunning 15th century Rosslyn Chapel, immortalised in the ‘Da Vinci Code’ and you can find out more about the myths and legends surrounding the whereabouts of the ‘Holy Grail’. From here you return to Edinburgh.

The Real Mary King’s Close
Take a walk through Edinburgh’s history. Mary King’s Close consists of a number of closes which were originally narrow streets with houses on either side. In 1753 the Burgh Council decided to build the Royal Exchange on this site. The lower stories and closes were retained as foundations for the new building. You can now walk along these ancient closes and examine the murky dwellings which are steeped in mystery.
You will be guided through the underground closes by a guide dressed in character from the 18th century.
Open 7 days with tour departures every 20 minutes from 10am and lasting around an hour. Remember to wear sturdy shoes!
